Causes of Degenerative Disc Disease
With age, several changes set in within the spinal discs. Each of these events or a combination of them can result in degenerative disc disease.
• The outer layer of the spinal disc known as the capsule or annulus develops small cracks or tears through which the jelly-like substance present within the disc leaks out. This may lead to bulging of the disc or its rupture.
• Water is a major component of the spinal disc. With age, there is a loss of this water that leads to drying of the disc, resulting in a loss of its flexibility. Besides, losing water reduces the thickness of the disc, causing a narrowing of the space between vertebrae.
• A fall or an accident that causes a herniated disc can trigger off degenerative disc disease.
People who are obese and those whose jobs involve continuously lifting heavy objects are also prone to degenerative disc disease.

Anti-again and resveratrol
I have been reading all about this new supplement called resveratrol supplement. It has been in the news, on the radio and it is all over the internet. Even the local Whole foods has a wide selection of this stuff. What do you think about all this talk and chatter about the anti-aging, supposed anti-aging, properties. I am sure that the doctors that are investigating all this are quite sincere in their hopes. I am quite sure that the people that have been taking this supplement for sometime now, and in some cases many years truly think that it is assisting them in the anti-aging process. But will this stuff help me? Will it really help me over the next several years? I guess the only way to find out is to try it out but It does look a bit expensive to just try out. I will be thinking about this. Thoughts?
