History of Phentermine
The Food and Drug Administration that is FDA first approved phentermine as an appetite suppressant drug in 1959. It was approved for the short-term treatment of patients who are obese. In the same year there was Phentermine resin which was in the U.S market. And in the early 1970 Phentermine Hydrochloride came into the market. It was once sold under the brand name fastin but, it was removed from the market in 1998. Currently it is found under different brand names such as Adipex, Adiphene and Ionamin among others. It is now sold as a generic medication that is known as ‘phentermine’. This appetite suppressing drug is classified as schedule IV drug that is internationally. It is also studied together with other medications for obesity. There is no clinical studied that has been done on this drug since it was approved. The only studies that have been carried they involved other drugs like fenfluramine. This drug is considerably cheaper than most of the diet drugs that have been approved by FDA.
